When Ariel and Yisca Greenglick established their farm in 2019, it was to renew a Jewish presence on the land that had been home to Israelites from the time of the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
The name Kedar is the Biblical word for desert. They chose the name because the book of Isaiah was read on the first Shabbat the family spent on the farm. Once they heard the verse, “All the flocks of Kedar shall be assembled for you, The rams of Nebaioth shall serve your needs; They shall be welcome offerings on My altar, And I will add glory to My glorious House,” (Isaiah 60:7) they knew they had found the name for their farm!
Initially, Yisca and Ariel focussed on herding sheep and goats, followed by sowing the land with grains and tending to fruit trees. Watching their flocks and agricultural ventures, they became increasingly aware of the abundance of naturally growing plants and herbs that offer healing benefits.
They established Kedar Natural Desert Cosmetics to share the abundance of the land with people in Israel and abroad. In addition to their cosmetics venture, during the Covid pandemic, the couple built a rugged, beautiful outdoor wedding venue to assist young couples wanting a place to hold their weddings.
